Cohabitation

Financial claims against former cohabitants are possible in some circumstances.  There is a time limit for lodging these types of claims with the Court which is 12 months from the date of separation.  Parties should therefore not delay in seeking advice in this area of law.

It is also possible in some circumstances to make a claim against the estate of a cohabitant if they die intestate (without a Will).  The time limit for lodging these types of claims with the Court is 6 months from the date of death.
